Holy Orders and Religious Vocations

✝️ Holy Orders and Religious Vocations
Discerning a call to serve is one of the most profound journeys a person can undertake. At Holy Rosary Parish, we embrace and support those considering a vocation to priesthood, permanent diaconate, or religious life.
👨⚖️ What Are Holy Orders?
Holy Orders are the sacrament through which the mission entrusted by Christ to His Apostles continues in the Church today. It includes three degrees:
- Deacon
- Priest
- Bishop
Each spring, the Diocese of Hamilton celebrates the ordination of new priests at the Cathedral. These men, having discerned their call, commit to serve God’s people with integrity, compassion, and faith.
🙏 Discerning a Religious Vocation
Feeling called? Here’s what we encourage:
- Active Faith Practice: Participate in Mass, prayer, and parish life.
- Parish Involvement: Serve in ministries and stay engaged in the community.
- Conversation with the Pastor: If you believe God may be calling you, set up a meeting to begin the discernment process.
Our pastor is here to guide you through discernment and connect you to the appropriate diocesan resources.
🕊️ Permanent Diaconate
Men discerning a call to become Permanent Deacons undergo a formation process designed by the Diocese. Acceptance into this ministry:
- Requires the support of the parish pastor
- Must be affirmed by the Ordinary of the Diocese
Permanent Deacons serve the Church in liturgy, charity, and pastoral outreach.
