🕊️ St. Vincent de Paul Ministry: Compassion in Action

The St. Vincent de Paul Ministry at Holy Rosary Parish stands as a vital bridge between the church and the community—offering hope, help, and healing to those in need. Rooted in the Gospel values of charity and service, this ministry reflects the heart of Christ’s love through practical outreach.

đź’¬ What We Do

Every month, dedicated Vincentians respond to calls for assistance—averaging 6 to 10 requests. These calls often lead to:

  • đź›’ Providing food from our parish basement pantry
  • 🏠 Arranging emergency accommodations
  • 📝 Assisting with form completion and navigating social services

Support is always tailored to the individual’s situation, and we treat every case with dignity and confidentiality. Around Christmas, our activity increases to meet seasonal needs and ensure no one feels forgotten during the holidays.

🤝 How We Serve

Each volunteer serves on a rotating, on-call basis, typically pairing up with another Vincentian for one month. Home visits—usually taking place during the day or evening—require around two hours weekly, creating meaningful opportunities to connect directly with those we serve.

The group also gathers monthly to share insights, pray together, and manage organizational efforts. These meetings strengthen our community bonds and renew our mission.

đź’— How You Can Help

Whether you’re interested in joining the ministry or supporting it in other ways, there are plenty of opportunities to get involved:

  • Volunteer your time to make home visits or organize supplies.
  • Donate food items or financial resources to keep our pantry stocked.
  • Spread the Word to help others discover this vital outreach.
  • When you donate directly to the St. Vincent de Paul Society using CanadaHelps or by cheque or with cash, you are supporting the St. Vincent de Paul Society, not Holy Rosary Parish.
  • CanadaHelps issues the tax receipt for donations made through CanadaHelps.
  • All donations made payable to the St. Vincent de Paul Society by cheque or gift cards, are receipted by the St. Vincent de Paul Society.

We welcome volunteers of all backgrounds who are committed to sharing the light of hope. Even a small act of kindness can ripple into lasting change.
